Otto Geleng
When Otto Geleng first opened in 2018, it was only ever intended as a 6-month residency. Fast forward a year, and such was its popularity that it not only became a permanent feature within the hotel, but its success earned it its first Michelin star. Roberto Toro, Executive Chef of Grand Hotel Timeo, is the mastermind behind its creation. He named it after the German landscape painter Otto Geleng, who lived most of his life in Taormina.
Otto Geleng is an open-air terrace restaurant, seating just 16 guests. The space offers unique, dramatic views over the picturesque coastal town of Naxos and onto the fierce glow from the continuous eruptions of Mount Etna, one of the world's most active volcanoes. Described as a noble 'salotto' (Italian for drawing room or parlour), the dining experience boasts attentive and approachable service, where each guest is made to feel the familial welcome that exudes from the grandeur of its historic home.
Roberto's ingredients speak first and foremost of the island of Sicily (more than 90% are sourced locally), with considered touches from his global travels.
