Da Terra, Bethnal Green reopens October 18th 2024
Chef Patron Rafael Cagali and General Manager Charlie Lee are delighted to announce the reopening of Da Terra, their two Michelin-starred restaurant located within the historic Town Hall Hotel in East London’s Bethnal Green, on Friday 18th October 2024.
Having undergone a complete four-week refurbishment, including behind-the-scenes upgrades and an extended open kitchen, the new room layout allows the pair to evolve their offering to a more personal and connected experience for their guests.
Charlie Lee says, “We’ve been open for almost six years, and it was time to reimagine our hospitality. Rafael and I have always wanted to elevate our guests' experience, so we have changed the layout, making a few tweaks to the flow and feel of the room.”
From a redesigned entrance, guests will be welcomed to the restaurant’s dedicated lounge to enjoy the first part of the Da Terra menu. A series of snacks will be served with pre-dinner drinks in preparation for the meal ahead, allowing everyone time to relax and unwind. The journey continues in the 28-seat main dining room with creatively refined dishes celebrating Rafael’s global upbringing and training while championing the finest produce.
The refurbishment has also allowed for changes in the kitchen. “Every kitchen comes with limitations for a chef," explains Rafael, “so being able to make changes not only to the equipment but also to the layout means that the chef team, alongside the front of house, are participating in the occasion. I’m especially looking forward to evolving the menu now we can finally get into the kitchen and start to explore the possibilities”
While the changes have been within the structure of the original offering and are more like tweaks to the eye, they herald a new era and the beginning of a much broader journey for the restaurant's evolution.

Home to chef Rafael Cagali and Restaurant Manager Charlie Lee, Da Terra is located in Bethnal Green’s historic Town Hall Hotel, a building dating back to 1910. Launching in January 2019, the restaurant earned its first Michelin star just eight months after opening, and a second star followed in 2021.
